4/8/2023 0 Comments Planescape torment tvtropesI played the game twice before I even knew about him, and had to specifically set out to get him, and didn't find it to be worth it. I almost never even pick him up, and honestly I think the game does him a big disservice by making him so easy to miss and so late in the game. He doesn't really have much to his plot except for the Dungeon Complex itself, so by the time you get him he's pretty much done developing as a character. He's less dark than all the other companions, which can be refreshing. He's the only ranged character, so that's quite unique, and his voice acting and concept are delightful. It's a long fight, and that's not really central to PST. However, I don't like getting him - the Dungeon Complex is pretty boring, and not very Torment-y to me. Nordom is the most fun of the companions. ![]() That means I usually don't actually bring Ignus with me too often, but every time I have, I've enjoyed having him along. I tend to play the game as a mage, since the game rewards high mental stats. He's one-dimensional and not all that useful most of the time, but I like the crazy thing. I'm hoping that the EE adds at least one more companion, and another priest would be my first hope for who that could be. It's a cool idea for a character, I just wish she had her own plot in the here and now, rather than conversations about her backstory. She's just kind of there, hanging around you because you're interestig and she's a Sensate. I think she's neat, but doesn't really change or grow throughout the course of the game - she doesn't have her own plot arc like several of the other NPCs do, and isn't as linked with the NO's backstory as most of your other companions. As such, she can't be too far from the middle of the road, simply because you need to have her along to heal people. Her voice acting is awesome, but I've never really found myself too invested in her as a character.įalls-from-Grace, as the only priest, is basically going to be included in every party. She fills a lot of the same role as Morte in terms of story and mechanics, as she's a Sigil native who can explain the setting to you and knows the different powers and politics. If you're not playing as a rogue, she's pretty important to have around so you can do some stealth and lockpicking stuff. I've tried to play the game without him by my side the whole time, and honestly it's just not worth it without him. He's got a great voice actor, he's got a cool story, and he's useful - easily my favorite companion out of the bunch. You learn a lot about your previous incarnations through Dak'kon, and the Unbroken Circle is one of my fondest memories of any game I've ever played. All of the philosophy stuff he discusses with you is really cool, and since beliefs and philosophy are so core to the Planescape setting, it's central to the game. ![]() I'd like to see more about what he's up to when he's not following around the NO - surely some of the incarnations hated the guy, and so he would have time to go off and do his own thing occasionally.ĭak'kon is, in my opinion, both the most interesting and useful of the companions. He also doesn't really have any personal plot other than his interactions with the NO, something I think is a bit of a miss. The Pillar of Skulls stuff is cool when you get to it, but it's not really foreshadowed much, so it kind of comes out of the blue. His interactions are funny, but once you've seen them once, I don't think they're all that interesting. His taunt is useful, and his speed lets him interrupt people effectively, but since combat is not at all the game's focus, he loses out on that. However, he is the easiest companion to replace, both in his role in the story (which is mostly just to explain stuff) and his mechanical role, which is combat. Morte is a fun companion, and he's useful as the most unbiased mouthpiece for explaining the setting. OK, a more detailed answer, since you're from Beamdog and I'm all excited about the upcoming EE.
