I’m a carnivore at restaurants and a vegetarian at home, a cheese-lover, and a voracious connoisseur of all things sweet, a gardener and a baker too. I’ve always considered myself a fiercely independent woman and I get even more motivated when someone tells me it can’t be done…I’ll work diligently to prove them wrong. Austin (graduated with a Bachelor of Science), lived in Austin for 16 years and then moved to Dallas to care for my late Father-in-Law and have been in Dallas now for 13 years. I’ve lived in Texas my whole life…grew up in El Paso, went to college at U.T. I love being my own boss and I even keep a little notebook of future business ideas. I have been a serial entrepreneur – I owned a wedding cake business in my 20’s, owned a calligraphy business in my early 30’s (I even addressed Laura Bush’s 60th birthday party invitations), I became a recipe writer and wrote recipes for in my late 30’s. My favorite memories involve family and friends enjoying stories and laughter around the table long after every morsel has been savored. My West Texas roots give me an intense work ethic and the desire to share good food from my heart - food will always equal love to me. We hope they become your "Beyond Toast" jams. Jammit is always delicious on toast or with peanut butter, but our jams are so versatile and really shine when they are paired with artisan cheeses, gourmet pastries, or warmed up as a sauce or chutney over meat, pork, duck or chicken or fish. Our method of cooking really allows the multiple layers of flavors to shine through…we have continued to grow, but we have a team that still produces every jar by hand. We use our spoon as our symbol because if the finished jam wasn't spoon-worthy to eat right out of the jar, then we weren't done testing the recipe. The alcohol is cooked out so Jammit is perfect for the whole family. Each jar of Jammit has been carefully tested to insure perfect balance among ingredients-seasonal fruit, minimal sugar, spices, herbs and libations. Jammit Jam’s flavors are so delicious because we are passionate about only using whole fruit and we use only pure cane sugar (no high fructose corn syrup or anything that isn't pure). The Apple Cinnamon Bourbon smelled so good in my kitchen that we kept going in and out of the house just to experience the aroma again and again. We made sure our jams were not so sweet, not so boring, and full of flavor. We knew we had a jam gem when people were telling us that they were eating it directly out of jars with their spoon. Before we knew it, we were unable to keep up with local demand. Prior to that one summer we had never made jam, and honestly, we had never liked store bought jam - most are too sweet and too boring. The company was founded in 2014 when we started creating hand produced jams and started selling them at a local farmers market for extra spending money. Jammit Jam began as a love of cooking and experimenting in the kitchen and has been winning awards almost since its inception.
